About Us

Dear Lo‑Inyo School Students, Families, and Staff,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Lo‑Inyo Elementary & Middle School, a place where curiosity leads the way, kindness is our currency, and learning is always an adventure!

I hope your summer was filled with rest, laughter, and just the right amount of boredom to spark your imagination. Around here, we’ve been busy preparing for another unforgettable year. Desks are dusted, lesson plans are blossoming, and our hallways are just waiting to be filled with the sound of footsteps, giggles, and fresh ideas.

Let me say right up front: I can’t wait to share our 2024 - 2025 results with you as soon as the state releases them! What I can already tell you is this: last year, our students showed heart, determination, and creativity in ways that inspired all of us. We cheered them on through learning breakthroughs, personal milestones, and big leaps forward. If 2024-2025 taught us anything, it’s that this community is unstoppable when we work together.

And now, a new chapter begins.

This year, our goals are simple- but powerful:

  • Engage every student through hands-on learning and storytelling that brings knowledge to life.
  • Support the whole child by fostering social-emotional growth, confidence, and resilience in a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Connect with families in fun and meaningful ways-because your voice is vital and your partnership makes all the difference.

We’re also continuing to grow our culture of joy and accountability. That means celebrating the small victories, encouraging reflection, and always modeling the kindness and respect we want to see in our world.

Here are a few key dates to add to your fridge calendar or digital planner:

  • First Day of School: Wednesday, August 20, 2025 (Doors open at 7:45 AM. Bring your best “first day” smile!)
  • Back-to-School Night: Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Meet your child’s teacher, tour the classrooms, and learn what’s in store.
  • Fall Festival: Friday, October 31, 2025 - Costumes, laughter, games, and tons of fun…

I’m deeply grateful to serve as your Principal. Additionally, I’m proud to be in Lone Pine because it lets me stay connected to all the moving parts that make this school so special to my heart.  Whether you're walking through our front doors for the very first time or returning like a familiar song, know this: you are welcome, you are needed, and you belong here.

Let’s make 2025–2026 a year full of purpose, play, and plenty of magic.

With excitement,

Derek Moisant
Principal, Lo‑Inyo School
